Figure Drawing Book

This is another sketch book I made a couple months ago. I use it only to
practice anatomy. To keep myself in 'training' mode, it's so important.
I've been setting aside some time to keep exploring and growing.
And this was covered in card board and the spine, binding material.

Projects - Baby Steps

Today I was thinking about all the projects on my blog, those I've taken to a complete stage and the ones I continue to develop. Some of them have overlapped (ideas, themes, characters etc.) pouring into each other the 'juice' needed to keep them going, to keep me going. To keep away boredom and burnout. With each story I've committed myself to I've learnt so much about myself. My voice is clearer inside in my head, I know what I want to say and what those words and pictures are going to look like.

I've been taking baby steps, pacing myself, enjoying the process. Making each day I learn something new count as a day of great progress. It's going to take some time (I'm very patient) for all my projects to be completed. There are going to be setbacks and I've encountered many already. Learning to manage them have brought me renewed energy and strength to keep me from giving up. So, if you're thinking about getting into comics or you're in it already. Take some baby steps when things feel difficult. It's the only way!

Sketch pad

Had some stacks of drawing paper folded to this lovely size (210mmx150mm).
I made this sketch pad with a cardboard back and yellow bristol board for the front.
Can't wait to start doing some drawings in this!

Old, new

I have a couple books I made but didn't cover and this was one of them.
The pages are a bit old but I decided to try something new with this sketch book
covering it with cardboard and inking a design to make it new again.

Tiny books

These little books I made when I was into everything tiny and
the cover had to be red and there had to be string involved.

Early Morning

Early in the morning, when everything just look like
shapes and the sky is a pale blue before the sun shows up.

Whenever I get the inspiration for some other project, I like to draw it before I forget.
So this week this one was for Outaplace. Even though it was done quickly, I may
use it as it is here or change it up a bit.

The inspiration for this came about while I was looking at the lush
hills and thinking if only I could fall asleep there.

Things grow

It's rainy season and everything looks lush and green and full. I did this
sketch from memory after seeing this lady in her garden one morning.

Who asked her

There's always somebody who doesn't want somebody to play. Then there's some
arguing about whether the game should start with or without this person or the game begins
too late or is abandoned. All in a day of play I guess.

Late night

Late night is a sequence about sitting still and allowing your mind to play tricks.
I have to say I'm enjoying all the discoveries from my 'small ideas' sketch book!

I wanted this sketch to tell a story of two forms in the forest and the blue
indicating something else. A spirit, an external form that can only be seen in the
reflection in the water. Whether it's a good spirit or bad, they're not sure.

Deep Sea

The blue in this sketch just reminds me of that dark blue of the sea you see
from a boat or a plane. It looks inviting and scary at the same time.

Playing with shape and colour. The shapes of faces getting lost in colour and light.

In Love

Being in love is so good and so painful especially
if the boy doesn't know you exist!

These sketches remind me of my childhood growing up on
my grandmother's farm, exploring, playing, climbing trees
and eating a lot of fruits!

A sketch I did from memory. I always like to test myself to see
how much I could remember when I visit a place or observe something.

I like the magical feel of this image I did in my sketch book.
I like the process of putting down the lines and seeing where they take me.
